Trekking in Epirus: In the deepest gorges and alpine lakes

The Vikos Gorge trek is a descent and traverse through the deepest canyon in the world, ending at the Voidomatis springs. The Dragon Lake (Drakolimni) trek is a high-altitude ascent to a mythical alpine lake at 2,050m. Both are all-day 8-hour activities.

At Alpine Zone, we prioritize your experience. All our trekking tours are Private Groups. You will have a personal, fluent English-speaking guide dedicated entirely to your group’s pace and safety.

While the routes are relatively easy in most parts, they are all-day hikes. A moderate physical condition is recommended. For Drakolimni, there is a steeper final hike to the lake, but the satisfaction and iconic views are worth every step.

We provide a premium light lunch that includes traditional homemade veggie pie, fresh fruits, and a traditional sweet dessert. We also stop at scenic spots like the Voidomatis springs, one of the cleanest rivers in Europe, for rest.

You must bring a bottle of water and wear comfortable clothing suitable for the season. Most importantly, you need a pair of sturdy sports shoes suitable for trekking/hiking. We handle the rest!

Yes! Our treks are family-friendly and suitable for kids (04+) who are comfortable with walking. Because it is a private group, our guide can adjust the tempo to ensure the little adventurers enjoy the wild Balkan goats and natural scenery.
