Choosing Deos Canyon near Metsovo means opting for an incomparable, high-adrenaline experience. Located a short distance from the village of Paleochori, this gorge offers a demanding water field that will challenge even the most adventurous spirits.
The journey begins with a 20-minute descent following a dirt road and a mountain path that leads us directly to the first rappel. Once we enter the canyon, the action is non-stop: all 9 rappels are located right next to each other, minimizing hiking time and maximizing the vertical adventure. The highest descent reaches 27 meters, offering breathtaking views of the rugged cliffs.
The true highlight of Deos lies in its subterranean secrets. Half of the 8th rappel takes place inside a natural cave, while the final 9th rappel is completed in the dark as we enter a second cavern, creating a mystical and unforgettable finish to the descent.
After completing the rappels, we exit back onto the dirt road for a 35-40 minute uphill hike to return to the starting point. This 7-hour expedition is the ultimate original adventure for those seeking extreme experiences in a virgin, natural environment.
